Please note that the College of Dentistry is seeking approval to change the length of the Dental Therapy program to 2.5 years, beginning in August 2027. Under the proposed change, applicants admitted through the Dental Hygienist or Internationally Trained Dentist admission categories would complete the program over 1.5 years. These proposed changes are subject to all required University approvals and are not yet final. If approved, additional information regarding the revised program structure and requirements will be posted on this website, and affected applicants will be notified. The Bachelor of Science in Dental Therapy [B.Sc.(DT)] program is offered by the USask College of Dentistry in partnership with the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA), Saskatchewan Polytechnic, and Northlands College. Dental therapists provide clinical and preventive services to children and adults in private practice and community-based settings. Clinical treatment includes patient examinations, diagnosis of dental decay and abscesses, taking and interpreting x-rays, as well as providing restorative dentistry such as fillings and stainless steel crowns on children. Dental therapists also perform tooth extractions on children and adults.
