About this programme

How does landscapes shape biodiversity - and how we can conserve it? This course will teach you the theories behind why species are found in certain places and how biogeographical theory is used in conservation today. Photo of the Stockholm archipelago. How species disperse between islands and habitats is part of the theoretical foundation for biogeographical conservation. Photo: Sara Cousins. This course addresses how large-scale and small-scale landscape processes affect biodiversity, species ability to disperse between different habitats, the links between biogeography and ecology, and how biogeographic theory and concepts are used in habitat and species conservation. This course is given as a separate course and can be used as part of the eligibility requirements for the Master's Programme in Landscape Ecology . The language of instruction of the course is specified in the digital course catalogue. As a student you must be conscientious about clearly accounting for the material used in the texts that are submitted for examination. Any student who is caught cheating or disrupting academic activities may be suspended from lectures and exams for a period of up to six months. The Vice Chancellor or the Disciplin
