About this programme
Prepare for a career in healthcare as a trainee assistant practitioner, developing the knowledge, practical skills and professional experience needed to support high-quality patient care. Through a combination of academic study and hands-on learning in healthcare settings, you will develop an understanding of person-centred care, healthcare practice and leadership across a range of care environments. The curriculum reflects current healthcare practice and has been aligned to the Allied Health Professions Support Worker Competency, Education and Career Development Framework, helping you prepare for employment and career progression within the healthcare sector. The qualification uses a unit based, coursework only assessment approach, combining academic work with practice based evidence. Instead learners demonstrate their competence through assignments and practical evidence. It is recommended that you budget for your own laptop. If this is not possible the College has IT resources that you can use. Also, an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Check (DBS) will be required for this course. The Level 5 Higher National Diploma is recognised by higher education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant health and social care-related courses, for example:
