About this programme

Professionally approved by the Health and Care Professions Council and British Dietetic Association , the BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition and Dietetics degree at Cardiff Met contains two major elements: The academic and simulated practice component based on campus and clinical training, which occurs during three separate placements based within clinical and community settings in Wales. Both elements are essential for the achievement of the course objectives and award of the degree with eligibility to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for registration as a dietitian. Due to this programme being NHS funded and therefore limited places being available which may fluctuate each year, unfortunately deferred applications cannot be considered. This degree can be studied as a three-year full-time degree or a four-year full-time degree that includes a year of foundational study. Our foundation year is intended to prepare you for your subsequent years of studying, offering you the chance to strengthen your skills, knowledge and confidence. Please note: You will need to apply using a specific UCAS code if you wish to undertake the 4 years including foundation. In addition, you will need to pass the foundation year with an overall mark of 70% at the first attempt, with a minimum of 65% from the Term 2 Biological Sciences (20 credits) and Chemical Sciences (20 credits) modules. See entry requirements for further detail. The BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition and Dietetics requires completing and passing three clinical placements.
