About this programme

This degree explores how animals see the world and how we can practically enrich their lives. You'll study everything you need to know from animal physiology, health and psychology, through to the biology underpinning animal welfare and how this can be practically applied to improve quality of life including through policy, advocacy, and animal protection work. This will lead to a deep understanding of the animal world and build your confidence to advocate for their interests in zoo, farm, laboratory, companion animal and natural settings. At the University of Lincoln, this course is designed with your future in mind. You will develop a solid grounding in animal biology and practical, job-ready skills through practical work and applied research. Whether you're aiming for a career in animal care, animal protection, animal training, research, animal conservation or human-animal interactions, this course gives you a clear, supported pathway to achieve your goals. Why Lincoln? Because you'll graduate with hands-on experience, strong scientific knowledge and skills, and the confidence to step into a competitive career sector. My degree prepared me for my job at a major UK dog rescue charity as it provided me with up-to-date training techniques, the confidence to apply these techniques, and animal welfare knowledge. This is more than an animal biology degree. It’s a direct route into animal-focused careers. Explore animal behaviour in depth Understand how animals think, act, and adapt to their environments.
