About this programme
Animal Behaviour and Welfare explores how animals think, behave, communicate, and respond to the environments around them. This integrated Master's degree combines animal science, behaviour, welfare, and research skills to help you understand how animals can be cared for, managed, and protected across a wide range of settings. At the University of Lincoln, you'll study topics including animal behaviour, welfare assessment, ethics, cognition, and conservation while gaining practical scientific experience through laboratory work, research, and applied learning. The MBio pathway allows you to graduate with an enhanced research qualification, helping you stand out for careers in animal welfare, research, conservation, and postgraduate study. My degree prepared me for my job at a major UK dog rescue charity as it provided me with up-to-date training techniques, the confidence to apply these techniques, and animal welfare knowledge. Lincoln combines scientific teaching with practical application, helping you understand both the theory behind animal behaviour and the real-world challenges surrounding animal welfare. This course helps you develop a strong understanding of animal behaviour, welfare science, and ethical animal management. The integrated Master’s year gives you the opportunity to complete advanced research and deepen your expertise in specialist areas of animal behaviour and welfare. Animal Management will cover the contributions of animal scientists, welfare bodies, legislators, producers and consumers to the housing and management of captive animals. There wi
