About this programme
The Anatomy, Developmental & Human Biology BSc degree course offers you an opportunity to explore how the human body is constructed, how anatomical structures function normally and the basis of human diseases caused when these structures do not form properly or become damaged. You will learn how our anatomy has emerged through the study of evolution, embryonic development, anatomical structure-function relationships and ageing. In doing so, you will consider how human anatomy is constructed and functions normally at the organismal, tissue, cellular and molecular levels. We are one of only a few UK universities to offer an Anatomy BSc programme. Our students have access to extensive, modern dissection room facilities and the Gordon Museum of Pathology. Our course is research-led, providing an opportunity for you to study human anatomy in depth and to integrate this knowledge with cutting-edge research in anatomy, embryology, evolution, cell and molecular biology. You will learn how these rapidly advancing and interlinked fields of scientific investigation are helping us better understand how the human body works and the origins of many human diseases. The Anatomy, Developmental and Human Biology BSc course forms part of the suite of ‘Common Year One’ BSc courses within the School of Bioscience Education. These comprise: Anatomy, Developmental & Human Biology; Biochemistry; Biomedical Science; Medical Physiology; Molecular Genetics; Neuroscience; Pharmacology. When you have successfully completed Year One, you progress through to Years 2 and 3 where you can tailor your co
