Studying in Denmark: the essentials

01About these institutions

Students should check the current programme portfolio and international admission options of each institution before applying.

02Intakes and Application Periods

Many Danish higher education programmes have an autumn intake. Spring admission may be available for selected programmes and institutions.

Deadlines, academic entry requirements and English-language requirements differ between institutions and programmes.

03Tuition Fees and Scholarships

Non-EU/EEA students generally pay tuition fees for higher education in Denmark, although exemptions may apply in specific circumstances.

Tuition fees vary according to the institution and programme. Scholarships or tuition waivers may be offered to eligible students through selected institutions or funding schemes.

Students should consider accommodation, food, transport, insurance and other living expenses when planning their budget.

04Working While Studying

Eligible non-EU/EEA students with the appropriate residence and work permission can generally work up to 90 hours per month from September through May and full-time during June, July and August, subject to the conditions applicable to their permit.

Rules may differ for particular programmes or residence permissions. Students should check the exact conditions attached to their own permit before starting work.
