Computer Science scholars ask questions such as: Can we build computers that think like humans? How can we improve computer games that feature evolving characters? What is the future of augmented reality? Computers are at the heart of our everyday lives, and computer science explores the full potential of what is possible with this technology. In Computer Science, you will learn to understand the world around you and frame what we know as abstractions that computers can understand and efficiently work with. Computer Science offers you the opportunity to specialize in wide-ranging areas of this evolving field. From game design to information security and privacy, there is something for every interest. You can join leading researchers to discover new ways to generate the graphics that appear in movies and games, create original ways of interacting with computers, and explore detailed models of the planet beneath our feet and the skies above our heads. The Science Internship Program provides you with the opportunity to build workplace skills. Students have taken on roles such as a software developer intern, cloud architect intern and software engineer (UX/AI/ML) intern. Many students take advantage of opportunities to do research with Computer Science faculty members in their second, third or fourth year. This can be a summer research project funded by an undergraduate research grant or taking a research project course.
