Bachelor of Science in Data Science

About this programme

In the world around us, people look for patterns and stories in data. In data science, we explore methods from statistics and computing in combination what we know from other subject areas to better understand our data and how to interpret our findings. We learn to handle data more efficiently, the possibilities and limits of data-centric techniques such as machine learning, and the ways in which our humanity affects how we collect, curate and present data and stories from our immediate contexts to the world. A wide range of fields are looking for people with data science skills. You might find work as a data scientist, analyst, or machine learning specialist in any field that works with data, for instance: Linear Methods I, University Calculus I, Discrete Mathematics, Introduction to Computer Science for Multidisciplinary Studies I and II, Introduction to Statistical Enquiry for Data Scientists, Introduction to Data Science Employers in Calgary and beyond are looking for graduates who can help them transform their day-to-day operations by storing, managing and using data to create new innovations and insights. The Data Science program is a flexible program which encourages students to build broad and diverse foundations, combined with the scientific, analytical and computational tools which are reshaping our everyday lives.
