About this programme
Biological anthropology explores human evolution and biological diversity through the study of our ancestors, living humans and other primates. Biological anthropologists ask questions like how humans evolved, why primates live in groups and how humans have adapted to different environments. UCalgary's Bachelor of Science in Anthropology emphasizes the natural and biological sciences, with opportunities to study primate behaviour, evolution, ecology, cognition and conservation. Examine fossil casts spanning the earliest primates to modern humans in UCalgary's dedicated laboratory, or study wild primates firsthand through our long-running international primatology field school. Biological Anthropology graduates can pursue careers at the intersection of human biology, evolution, health and animal behaviour. Career paths include forensic and health sciences, epidemiology, conservation, natural history museums and zoological organizations, with opportunities spanning research, public health, wildlife conservation and education. Explore topics through courses such as Human Osteology, the study of human skeletal remains; Primate Ecology and Conservation; Evolution of Human Behaviour; and Nutritional Anthropology.
