About this programme

Mechanical engineering is about solving real-world problems using science, maths, and creativity - from design to adapting to new challenges and delivering sustainable solutions for modern society. At the University of Lincoln, this degree focuses on turning you into an industry-ready engineer. You'll learn through practical projects, utilising specialist purpose-built facilities and equipment and addressing real-world challenges developed with industry partners. From your first year, you'll be building the skills employers actually look for. By the time you graduate, you'll be prepared to pursue a variety of career paths in areas such as control systems, power and energy, and mechanical and materials engineering. You'll also have the option to strengthen your experience through an industry placement year or study abroad opportunity, helping you stand out in a competitive graduate job market. I thought it was brilliant that the degree modules focused not only on academic rigor, but the way they were delivered to develop of soft skills through things like group work on real industrial problems. This meant that when looking at graduate placements and schemes, I could confidently demonstrate key competencies that were required. This degree builds your ability to design, analyse, and improve mechanical systems used across global industries. In your final year, you’ll complete an independent engineering project, allowing you to specialise in an area that interests you, and showcase the skills you’ve developed throughout the course.
