About this programme
General Engineering brings together mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and design engineering to prepare you for a wide range of technical careers. At Lincoln, this course is designed for students who enjoy problem-solving, technology, and innovation but want flexibility across engineering disciplines rather than specialising too early. You'll learn how engineering systems work, how products and technologies are designed and improved, and how engineers solve real-world challenges across industries including energy, manufacturing, transport, robotics, and infrastructure. From the start of the course, you'll combine technical theory with hands-on project work using specialist engineering facilities, industry-standard software, and practical laboratory experience. This course helps you build a strong foundation across key engineering areas while developing practical and professional skills employers look for. Throughout the course, you’ll apply your learning through practical projects, helping you develop confidence using engineering knowledge in real-world situations. Many sectors of engineering require high levels of computer literacy and the ability to write computer programs for problem solving is highly desirable. In learning the fundamentals of computer programming, logical thinking and problem solving, skills can be developed and coding techniques learnt, that can support the study of modules in forthcoming years. This course delivers the concepts of structured computer programming and lab time is allocated for implementing these concepts. Students are provid
