About this programme
Journalism shapes how people understand the world. It influences public debate, holds power to account, and helps audiences make sense of what is happening around them. BA (Hons) Journalism Studies at Lincoln explores how journalism works, why it matters, and how media continues to change in a digital world. Journalism Studies is designed for students who want to explore journalism and media without completing the additional work required for the National Council for the Training of Journalists diploma. You'll still develop core practical skills for modern journalism, but with more space to examine the industry critically and consider a wider range of media and communications careers. Students may also be able to transfer to the NCTJ-accredited BA (Hons) Journalism course during their first year, if they decide that route is right for them. This course combines practical journalism skills with a broader study of media, communication, audiences, ethics, and storytelling. You'll learn how to research, write, interview, fact-check, film, edit, and produce content across digital and multimedia platforms, while also examining journalism's role in society. Journalism students benefit from a suite of newsrooms, with associated workstations and specialist print production software. Broadcast students have exclusive access to radio and television presentation studios and opportunities for output on the University’s digital audio platform. Students also have access to a TV studio where they can use the latest virtual studio technology to produce television news programmes.
