About this programme

The BSc in Sport & Exercise Medical Sciences is a clinically orientated course that provides students with the scientific foundations of human performance and exercise, alongside an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms, treatment and prevention of disease. Delivered by research scientists and clinicians, the course combines a Sport and Exercise Sciences programme with the medical specialty of Sport and Exercise Medicine. This degree is ever more relevant with a growing focus on public health approaches that aim to treat or prevent disease/injury through physical activity and lifestyle interventions. Graduates will be in an excellent position to progress into a broad range of careers within the medical or sport sciences. We're currently ranked 4th in the UK by the Complete University Guide and 2nd in the UK for research quality, according to the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021). Medical expertise meets your traditional sport science programme. We’ve created a course that combines the science of human performance and physical activity with an understanding of disease. You’ll explore a diverse range of areas connected to the world of exercise and sport including physiology, psychology and biomechanics. You’ll be able to use the very latest equipment at King’s. Every module includes work in our labs – you might be testing how the body responds to extreme conditions in our environmental chamber or analysing movement in our biomechanics and motor control laboratory.
