About this programme

Nurses make a real impact on patients, families and entire communities. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) at RDP prepares you to become a Registered Nurse (RN) through a balance of classroom learning, simulation and real-world clinical experiences. Delivered in collaboration with the University of Alberta, this four-year degree is designed to help you grow into the role of a Registered Nurse with confidence and purpose. Throughout the program, you’ll strengthen your clinical judgement, communication skills and professional identity as a nurse, learning how to think critically, respond to complex situations, and provide patient-centred care across diverse healthcare settings and life stages. A key part of your learning experience takes place in simulation labs. Here you’ll practice nursing skills in a safe, supported environment before applying them in real clinical settings. Using high-fidelity mannequins, simulated patient scenarios and guided debriefing, simulation labs help you build confidence, clinical judgement and decision-making skills. These labs allow you to make mistakes, ask questions and learn through hands-on practice. The BScN program is delivered full-time, in-person at our main Red Deer campus. You'll follow an assigned schedule designed to align theory, labs and clinical learning. This structure helps ensure you are prepared for the intensity and responsibility of nursing practice. Build your competency with clinical practice experiences across central Alberta in practicum settings that can include medicine, surgery, continuing care, communit
