Angola's study visa (Visto de Estudo) is a consular visa granted by Angolan diplomatic and consular missions abroad. It must be used within 60 days of issue, allows multiple entries and a stay of one year, and can be extended for an equal period until the studies end. It does not allow you to settle in Angola or to do paid work, except an internship linked to the training 1.
Documents for the study visa
The Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros (SME), Angola's immigration service, lists these documents 2:
- completed application form
- criminal record certificate from the country of origin or habitual residence, translated and officially recognised
- medical certificate from the home country, translated into Portuguese and recognised
- proof of means of subsistence
- three recent colour passport-style photos, 4x5 cm, white background
- photocopy of the main passport pages and the pages with entry and exit records
- signed declaration to respect Angolan law
- proof of enrolment at a recognised educational institution, or a guarantee of attendance stating the conditions and duration
- certificate from the awarding institution and an internship or training contract, where they apply
- proof of payment of the fee
The eVISA portal is for tourism and business
The eVISA portal, evisa.ao, run by SME, calls itself the official portal for tourism and business visas and states "Processamento em 72 horas" (processing in 72 hours). It does not describe a student visa 3. The visa-exempt countries featured on its home page do not include Bangladesh 3.
Checking a certificate
The portal has a "Consultar Certidão" look-up by certificate code 4. The official check asks for a certificate code of 16 digits. If SME has no certificate with that code it answers "Certidão não encontrada" 4.
Have the 16-digit certificate code ready for the status check on this page.
