Kenya student's pass from Bangladesh: documents, fee and tracking
Last checked against official sources on
Kenya's study permit is the Student's Pass, issued by the Directorate of Immigration Services and applied for through the Foreign Nationals Services portal 12. The portal sends automatic notifications by email and in the applicant's online account as the application progresses. After approval, an invoice appears in the Payments tab 2.
Fee and documents
The fee is 100 US dollars per year for non-East Africans. Citizens of East African Community states pay nothing 1. The documents listed include 1:
- Form 30, completed, signed and stamped by the institution
- a cover letter from the institution to the Director General of Immigration Services stating the course and its duration
- a copy of the passport bio-data page and recent passport-size colour photos
- certified copies of basic academic certificates for tertiary entrants
- a sponsor commitment letter and sponsor passport copy, or proof of funds if self-sponsored
- the institution's registration certificate from the Ministry of Education
- the student's CV
- a police clearance certificate for adults
- English translations of any foreign-language documents, by an embassy, a public notary or a recognised institution
The student pass pages give no processing time, and which Kenyan mission serves Bangladesh is not confirmed.
The eTA is a separate system
Visitors, including children, must hold an approved eTA (electronic travel authorisation) before they travel 3. The eTA typically takes three working days but may take longer 3. The official eTA lookup asks for the eTA reference, and reports "No active eTA found" when nothing matches 4.
Have your Student's Pass application details ready for the status check above, or your eTA reference if you hold one.
