Armenia for Bangladeshi students: invitation-only visitor visa and a residence card for study

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs puts Bangladesh on its list of countries whose citizens can apply for a visitor visa "only at the diplomatic representations or consular posts of the Republic of Armenia abroad and with invitation only". The list was updated on 2 February 2024 1.
Who writes the invitation
Invitations go through https://e-request.am/en. Companies registered in Armenia, government bodies, accredited embassies and international organisations submit them there. Individuals submit invitations to the Migration and Citizenship Service 1. The consular fee for an invitation-based visitor visa is AMD 5,000. Armenian visas run for up to 120 days and can be extended by 60 days 1.
Staying to study: the temporary resident card
The residence document for students is the Temporary Resident Card, which covers foreigners who study in Armenia. It is issued for up to one year and can be extended by one year 4. You apply at the Department for Determination of the Legal Status of Foreigners, Migration and Citizenship Service, 14 Tairov Street, Yerevan 4. The application needs 4:
- the application form and three 35 x 45 mm colour photos
- your passport, a copy, and a notarised Armenian translation of it
- documents supporting your reason for the permit
- a medical certificate
- the fee receipt
I found no official description of the student entry-visa step before the card.
Asking about status
The Foreign Ministry takes visa questions at visa@mfa.am. It cannot consider a status enquiry that leaves out the applicant's passport number 2. The Armenian embassy in New Delhi, which has a consular section at Armenia Street D-133, Anand Niketan, says it gives no visa status before the collection date on your acknowledgment slip and does not take phone enquiries about visa procedure 3. No official page I read says which Armenian mission accepts Bangladeshi applicants, so confirm that first.
Have your passport number and your acknowledgment slip ready before you use the status check on this page.
