Brunei student visa from Dhaka: Visa Advice first, then the High Commission in Baridhara
Last checked against official sources on
Bangladeshi students need a copy of a Visa Advice from Brunei Immigration, valid for three months from the issue date, to apply for the student visa in Dhaka 1. The High Commission issues the visa on the basis of that advice. Approval for Dependent and Student visas comes from the Department of Immigration and National Registration of Brunei Darussalam 1.
Visa on arrival will not work for you
Bangladesh Immigration does not accept a Brunei visa on arrival. A Bangladeshi citizen must have the visa endorsed in the passport before leaving 1. The visa is valid for up to three months only, and you fill in the E-Arrival Card online at imm.gov.bn before you arrive 1.
Where and when
The High Commission of Brunei Darussalam Visa Section is at House No. 26, Road No. 6, Baridhara, Dhaka-1212. Applications are taken 9:30 am to 11:00 am and visas are collected 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm, Sunday to Thursday. Office hours are 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and the phone numbers are +8802222261837 and +880258813304 1.
Documents
The Dhaka page lists for the dependent or student visa 1:
- one completed form per applicant and two recent passport photos
- copies of your NID and birth certificate
- copies of your passport(s), earlier visas and endorsed pages
- a passport valid at least six months when you enter Brunei, with at least four blank pages
- the Visa Advice copy
- medical tests from an enlisted medical centre, with a result form still valid when you enter Brunei
- medical insurance for the whole validity of the student pass, at least BND 5,000, from a Brunei-based insurer arranged by your sponsor in Brunei
- a confirmed air ticket, original and photocopy
- the visa fee, Taka 2,100 for single entry, in cash and non-refundable
Documents in a language other than English need a notarised English translation, as the same page states for visit and employment visas 1. You are responsible for your documents being genuine. Invalid or fraudulent ones lead to cancellation, and fees are not refunded 1.
Timing
The Dhaka page says the process normally takes five working days, not counting the day you submit, and may take longer if more checking is needed 1. I found no online status tracker on the page, and no student pass requirements or fee from Brunei Immigration.
Bring your submission slip back on collection day, and use its number for the status check on this page.
