Rwanda visa from Bangladesh: visa on arrival, Irembo application and the 50 USD ceiling
Last checked against official sources on
Rwanda's immigration directorate states: "From 1 Jan 2018, Citizens of all countries are allowed to get visa upon arrival without prior application." Nationals of African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie members get the visa on arrival with fees waived for a 30-day visit. Bangladesh is not named on the page, and it does not say whether Bangladesh counts under the Commonwealth waiver 1.
Applying before you travel
Citizens of countries that are not visa exempt can also apply online on Irembo, the government portal, or at a Rwandan diplomatic mission in their country of residence before departure. Online applicants can pay online or on arrival. The stated fee limit is "must not exceed 50 USD for single entry visa or 70 USD for multiple entry". The page says no agent is authorised to apply on your behalf 1.
What we could not find for students
The directorate's Visa services page lists General Information (visa issued under special arrangement), Transit visa and Visitors visa. It gives no student pass requirements, fee or processing time 2. Whether a Rwandan mission is accredited to Bangladesh is not confirmed. For questions, the directorate lists info@migration.gov.rw and +250-788-152-222, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm 2.
How to check your status
Rwandan visas are applied for through Irembo, and its "Find application" page is at irembo.gov.rw/home/en/find_application 3. The official page asks for the Irembo application number, which you find in your Irembo confirmation 3. If no application matches the number, Irembo answers with the Kinyarwanda "Dosiye yabuze", which means file not found 3. We could not read the status wording Irembo uses, so read the message it shows after you search.
Keep your Irembo confirmation open for the status check above.
