Dominica for Bangladeshi students: visa-free reading, no student visa, residence permit fee
Last checked against official sources on
On this page
The Government of Dominica lists "Countries in the Commonwealth of Nations" among those whose citizens may enter for up to six months without a visa 1. The Commonwealth Secretariat's member list includes Bangladesh 3. The Dominica page does not name Bangladesh itself. This is a reading of two official pages, so confirm it with Dominican immigration before you travel 13.
Entry rules
For entry the government lists a valid passport, a valid return ticket, sufficient funds and a local address 12. For people who are not exempt, the visitor's visa needs an application form, a passport, two photos, the sponsor's bank statement and invitation letter, a medical certificate, proof of employment, and documents notarised or translated by certified translators. The application fee is $200.00, paid at the Treasury Department 2. The page names no office to submit to and gives no processing time 2.
Studying
No student visa or study permit category appears on the government's visa, entry or residence-permit pages 124. The admission steps set by schools in Dominica are not covered by a government page we read.
If you need a residence permit, the first-time fee is EC$800.00 for non-CARICOM nationals (EC$250.00 for CARICOM nationals). It needs a medical certificate, a police record, a financial statement, a return ticket or deposit, a letter from a person accepting responsibility, and an Extension of Stay 4.
Who to ask
The page does not say who decides. Its contact is the Ministry of Justice, Immigration and National Security, Kennedy Avenue, Roseau, tel (767) 266 3354 1. For residence permits the contact is tel (767) 266-3553 4. No online status check is recorded for Dominica, so ask these offices or your school.
No tracker is recorded for Dominica, so the status check on this page cannot look up a case. Keep your passport and any receipt number at hand when you call.
