Last checked against official sources on
Mexico's student visa for stays over 180 days is called the "visa de residente temporal estudiante" 1. The consular fee is a fixed 56 USD, and the official response time is 10 business days 2.
Bangladesh is on the National Migration Institute's list of nationalities that must get a Mexican visa to travel to Mexico 3. These student visa rules come from Mexico's national foreign ministry (SRE) pages. They apply to every applicant and are not specific to one embassy 12.
Where the visa is applied for
The Embassy of Mexico in New Delhi, India has a consular office, and its 2024 application form names New Delhi as the consular office 5. The embassy's guide says to book an appointment in the MEXITEL system, choosing country India and document VISA 4. The national rule is that a non-national must prove legal stay in the country where they apply 1. Whether New Delhi accepts applicants who live in Bangladesh is not confirmed, so ask the embassy before you book 1.
You apply in person. You book an appointment, go to the consular office with the form and documents for an interview and biometrics, pay, and return on the day you are given for the result 2.
Documents
The official list includes 12:
- A valid passport and one photograph.
- An acceptance letter from an institution in Mexico's national education system, with your details, the institution and the course.
- Proof of money for living costs and tuition. This can be income above 100 days of minimum wage over the last three months, or a bank balance averaging 1,000 days of minimum wage over three months, or a scholarship letter from the institution. If you are not over 25, your parents or guardian can show it.
- Payment of the consular fee, and a free-form request letter. The procedure sheet also lists the original bank statement.
After you arrive
The visa is valid for 180 calendar days 2. After you enter Mexico, you must ask for the temporary student resident card within 30 calendar days. The card holder can ask the National Migration Institute for permission to do paid work 1.
How to check your status
Mexico's check is the SRE electronic visa portal, at visaelectronica.sre.gob.mx, and it sits behind a login 6. We could not read the portal's status wording, so we cannot say what each result looks like.
Use the status check above this article and keep your appointment confirmation and passport beside you.
