Trinidad and Tobago student permit: ttconnect application and tracking
Last checked against official sources on
For study in Trinidad and Tobago, the document you need is a Student Permit, and you apply for it online on the ttconnect portal. The Immigration Division of the Ministry of National Security decides 1.
Visa or permit
A Ministry of National Security PDF lists Bangladesh among the countries whose citizens do not need a visa to enter Trinidad and Tobago 2. The file is dated February 2024 in its web address, so check that the list still applies before you travel 2. A student permit is a separate document from entry rules 2. The High Commission of Trinidad and Tobago in New Delhi is accredited to Bangladesh 3.
Applying for the Student Permit
The permit is for full-time academic programmes 1. You will need:
- a passport valid for at least 12 months
- an acceptance letter from a designated learning institution
- a digital passport-sized photo in JPEG format
- supporting documents as PDFs
- a valid email address, and a Visa or Mastercard to pay 1
Renewals also need an assessment form 1.
The fee for non-CARICOM nationals is TTD 200, and it is not refundable. (CARICOM nationals pay TTD 100.) 1 Each PDF can be up to 450KB, with up to 20 files 1. You cannot change an application after you submit and pay, so check every file first 1.
Tracking the application
ttconnect has a "Track Application" tool. It shows the status, and once the permit is approved you get an email with the Student Permit attached 1. The portal page does not give a processing time or explain individual status words.
Keep the email address and reference you used on ttconnect handy when you use the status check above.
