Belgium Visa D for students from Dhaka: VFS appointment, the 250 euro fee and Infovisa tracking

Bangladeshi students apply for the Visa D for Students (a long-stay visa) at the Belgian Visa Application Centre run by VFS Global, Borak Mehnur, 51/B, Level 7, Kemal Ataturk Avenue, Banani, Dhaka-1213. A prior appointment has been mandatory since 16 November 2025, and the centre is open Sunday to Thursday, 9AM to 5PM 1.
Who decides
The decision does not come from Dhaka. The Embassy of Belgium in New Delhi handles Bangladesh, and its visa address is newdelhi.visa@diplobel.fed.be. For certain applications, Belgian embassies must send the file to the Immigration Office (FPS Home Affairs), the only authority competent on admittance, stay, residence and removal of foreigners, for the final decision 1.
Fees
- Visa D handling fee: 250 euro, not refunded if the D visa or residence application is refused 1.
- VFS service fee at the Belgian centre: 12,325 BDT. People exempt from the visa fee still pay it 1.
- Proof of full payment must be shown at submission, or the application is inadmissible 1.
Documents
Documents not in English must be translated into a Belgian national language by a sworn translator. Official papers such as certificates, diplomas and police clearance must be legalised before you submit them. Some D visa types also need a medical certificate from a doctor certified by the Belgian Embassy 1. The embassy has a "Visa D for Students" checklist as a PDF. I did not read it, so download it from the embassy page before you gather papers.
Following your file on Infovisa
Infovisa, run by the Immigration Office, asks for your visa application number and the Belgian post concerned, chosen from a list. The number can be the one from the embassy or consulate, or the one from VFS Global or TLS Contact, whichever received your application 21. Once the embassy has sent the file to the Immigration Office, you are given a file number, and from then on the Immigration Office is the only body to ask about status. When a decision is made, the embassy or honorary consulate tells you personally 1.
