On this page
The Croatian embassy that covers Bangladesh is in New Delhi (A-15 West End, New Delhi 110021). Its page says it covers Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, and it receives clients Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 12:00 1. The Croatian foreign ministry also lists an honorary consulate in Dhaka, run by Honorary Consul Mr. Kazi Nabil at House 44, Road 16 (Old 27), Dhanmondi, Dhaka 1209 1. The embassy page gives no visa information and points to konzularniportal.mvep.hr 1.
The permit for students
The route for study is a temporary residence permit, applied for on Form 1a and issued as a biometric residence permit 2. You submit the application in person at a Croatian diplomatic mission or consular office 2. If you need a visa to enter, the ministry says you may exceptionally apply at a police administration or station in Croatia instead, but only when you come to study full-time at a higher education institution (undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate) 2.
The ministry's page lists documents for temporary residence in general, not for study alone 2:
- the completed application and a colour photo, 35x45 mm
- a copy of a travel document valid at least three months longer than the permit period
- proof of health insurance
- proof that the stay is justified, with study as the purpose
- proof that the consular or administrative fee was paid
- originals or certified copies, with foreign documents translated into Croatian, certified, and not older than six months
The page gives no fee amounts 2. The permit is granted for up to one year, and extension requests go to the police administration no later than 60 days before it expires 2. After arriving you must report your residence to the police within three days, and you give biometric data at the police after approval 2.
Visa numbers for the New Delhi consulate
These figures are for Schengen short-stay visas (type C), all purposes and all nationalities, at Croatia's consulate in New Delhi. They are not student-permit figures and not Bangladesh-only figures.
- 2025: 2,615 applied, 1,721 issued, 709 not issued 4. That is a not-issued share of about 27 percent (709 of 2,615).
- 2024: 2,315 applied, 1,676 issued, 606 not issued 5. That is about 26 percent (606 of 2,315).
If a visa is refused, you have the right to appeal and you may apply again at any time. The refusal letter explains the reasons 3. That ministry page covers other regions and does not mention Bangladesh 3.
How to check your application on CROVISA
CROVISA is Croatia's online visa application system, and it has a "PROVJERA statusa zahtjeva" page, meaning "check request status" 6. The official status page 7 asks for:
The serial number and PIN come from your online application 7. The CROVISA page says you need them to resume an application 6. The ministry's temporary residence page names no status-check method, so ask the embassy if your case went by paper 2.
What you may see:
- "Neispravan captcha kod" means you typed the security image wrongly. Try again 7.
- A message saying the request does not exist or was not found means the system has no match. Check the serial number and PIN against your form 7.
- For any other reply, if the wording is not clearly an approval or a refusal, ask the embassy.
The embassy's phone numbers are 0091 11 4166 3101-3103, and its email is croemb.new-delhi@mvep.hr 1.
Have your 7-character serial number and 5-character PIN ready for the status check on this page.
