Lithuania visas for Bangladeshis: the New Delhi embassy and an Indian visa
Last checked against official sources on
To apply for a Schengen visa for Lithuania from Bangladesh, you first need an Indian X-Double Entry visa, because the application is made at the Embassy of Lithuania in New Delhi 1. Appointments are booked through VFS Global Visa Application Centres in India 1.
The embassy says its Schengen visas are issued by the New Delhi embassy, that the embassy does not accept applications by email, and that the Schengen application form is filled in on MIGRIS, the Lithuanian migration system 12. It also states that all visa appointments are handled by VFS at no cost, and that local agents cannot influence or schedule appointments 12. The Lithuanian foreign ministry tells applicants not to pay intermediaries for appointments 2.
What the numbers say
The European Commission publishes short-stay (Schengen type C) visa statistics for each consulate. For 2024, the Lithuanian consulate in New Delhi had 681 applications, issued 471 visas and did not issue 213 3. These figures cover all nationalities and all purposes at that consulate. They are not for Bangladeshis only and not for student visas. Using the figures as listed, 213 of 681 applications is about 31 per cent not issued 3.
These pages cover Schengen visas. The embassy pages used here do not describe the national student visa route, so ask your university or the embassy which visa type your course needs.
Have your MIGRIS application details ready for the status check above.
