Moldova study visa from Bangladesh: Type D, e-Visa file status messages explained
Last checked against official sources on
Bangladeshi citizens need a visa for Moldova. Bangladesh appears in the Moldovan list of states whose citizens need a visa to enter, exit and transit, and in the list that also needs an invitation from the General Inspectorate for Migration 3.
The study visa and where to apply
Moldova's study visa is the "Study Express Visa", a long-stay visa of type D for pre-university, university or post-university study at accredited state or private institutions 1. Type D cannot be obtained on the online e-Visa portal. Only transit (B) and short-stay (C) visas can be, and applicants for long-stay (D) visas must contact a Moldovan embassy or consulate 2.
The only study visa page we could use is from the Embassy of Moldova in India (New Delhi). It is titled "Study Express Visa Admission 2024", so treat it as a 2024 page that may have changed. It accepts applications by email to consul.newdelhi@mfa.gov.md, with the subject line "Study Express Visa Admission 2024 Moldova". The page does not say whether it covers people who live in Bangladesh. Which Moldovan mission serves Bangladeshi residents is not confirmed 1.
Documents and fees
The New Delhi page lists these, among others 1:
- An application form and a passport issued in the past 10 years, valid at least 3 months beyond your planned departure.
- A 35 x 45 mm colour photo.
- An invitation from the General Inspectorate for Migration if required, or a residence permit or valid non-transit visa of an EU or Schengen state, the UK, the USA or Canada.
- Confirmation of approval to study from the school.
- Proof of means of 30 euros x 90 days, which is 2,700 euros, unless you hold a Moldovan state scholarship or are on an exchange.
- A criminal record from your home country, translated into Romanian or English and legalised or apostilled (not needed for under-16s).
- Travel medical insurance valid in Moldova for at least 3 months, with cover of at least 30,000 euros.
The type D consular fee is 80 euros, which is 7,731 INR at the embassy in India. Under-18s pay nothing 14. The fee is not refundable, and the page gives a processing time of 5 to 10 working days 1.
After you arrive, the General Inspectorate for Migration issues a provisional residence permit for studies on the school's request. File it at least 30 days before your authorised stay ends 6.
How to check an e-Visa file
Moldova has an official "Verificare status dosar" (file status check) page for e-Visa files 5. You enter:
- Numar dosar, your file number.
- Email, the address used for the application.
- Cod de verificare, a captcha (picture code) shown on the page.
The page shows one of these messages 5:
- "Dosar în curs de înregistrare." The file is being registered. Check again later.
- "Dosar in lucru. Vă rugăm să verificați mai târziu." The file is being processed. Check later.
- "Dosar returnat. Vă rugăm să continuați aplicarea și să verificați observațiile autorităților." The file was returned. Continue the application and read the authorities' remarks.
- "Dosarul cererii de viză a fost aprobat. Puteți descărca viza de aici." The application was approved and you can download the visa.
- "Dosarul cererii de viza a fost refuzat. Motivul refuzului vizei electronice puteti sa-l descarcati de aici." It was refused, and the reason can be downloaded from the page.
- "Dosarul cererii de viză a fost retras." The application was withdrawn. Start a new one if you still need it.
This tracker is for e-Visa files. A type D study visa cannot be applied for on that portal 2, so ask the embassy how your own case is tracked.
Keep your file number and application email ready for the status check above.
