Montenegro visa from Bangladesh: Type D long stay, VFS Dhaka and refusal grounds
Last checked against official sources on
The Montenegrin government page for Bangladesh says: "Citizens of Bangladesh are required to obtain a visa for Montenegro." 1
Where to apply
Montenegrin diplomatic and consular missions issue visas. The government page for Bangladesh lists no specific mission. If a mission cannot be reached, it directs applicants to VFS Global at Borak Mehnur, VIII floor, 51/B Kemal Ataturk Avenue, Banani, Dhaka 1213 1. We could not confirm which mission decides for people living in Bangladesh, or whether the Dhaka centre is currently active for Montenegro 1.
A notice on that page says holders of valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visas or residence permits may enter and stay up to 30 days. The page does not say whether this applies to Bangladeshis 1.
Study
A long-stay visa (D) is for stays over 90 days but no longer than 6 months in one year. A permission for temporary residence for "secondary education and studies" or "participation in student exchange programmes" may be considered a long-stay visa for stays over 90 days 2.
The official list of documents is 2:
- A valid travel document, valid three months longer than the visa.
- One colour photo, 35 x 45 mm.
- Proof of the purpose of stay.
- Proof of accommodation.
- Proof of means to live on and to return or travel onward.
- A return or onward ticket.
- Proof of health insurance.
- Proof that the consular fee was paid.
You must submit the application in person. In exceptional cases you need not apply in person, but you must appear at the mission once the visa is issued. A visa does not allow work in Montenegro by itself 2. The student visa fee and processing time were not on the pages we could read.
Why a visa is refused
Montenegro lists these grounds for not issuing a visa 2:
- A general legal obstacle.
- You do not appear in person when asked.
- You do not submit the documents that prove your purpose and conditions of stay.
- You do not submit proof of health and travel insurance.
- You have stayed in Montenegro for 90 days without 180 days passing since your first entry.
The foreigner is told the reasons verbally 2.
Checking your status
We found no online status lookup for Montenegro; the government site is gov.me 3. Ask the mission or the VFS centre where you applied for your result.
Have your application receipt and passport ready for the status check above.
