Netherlands study permit: the university applies, you track it in My IND
Last checked against official sources on
For a study stay of more than 90 days, a Bangladeshi student cannot apply alone. The educational institution, as a recognised sponsor, applies to the IND (the Dutch immigration service) on your behalf 3. The IND aims to decide within 2 weeks when a recognised sponsor submits a complete application, and the legal decision period for study applications is 60 days 6.
What the application includes
The IND form for this route is 7504, "study, recognised sponsor" 4. It asks for a copy of your passport (identity details and stamped pages only), a completed direct debit appendix, and your biometrics, meaning fingerprints and a facial image 4. Your university checks beforehand that you have enough money to live on 3. The embassy page does not list the full set of documents for Bangladesh, so rely on your university for the exact list 2.
Tracking in My IND
The IND's My IND shows the progress of your application and how long the IND may take to decide 5. Decided applications stay visible for 28 days 5. The only login the page mentions is DigiD, the Dutch digital ID 5. The page does not publish status wordings 5.
Short-stay visas and VFS in Dhaka
Short stays work differently from study. The VFS Global Netherlands Visa Application Centre at Borak Mehnur, 51/B, Level 7, Kemal Ataturk Avenue, Banani, Dhaka started taking short-stay (C visa) applications on 2 November 2025, Sunday to Thursday, 9AM to 5PM 1. You first register and complete the application at consular.mfaservices.nl, then book a VFS slot 1. The decision stays with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague 1. No public tracker for these VFS Dhaka applications was found 5.
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Gulshan II sees people by appointment only, booked through a contact form 2.
Numbers
European Commission figures cover short-stay Schengen (type C) visas at a consulate, all purposes and all nationalities, so they are not study-permit figures 7.
