Poland study visa from Bangladesh: the New Delhi route and the NAWA letter
Last checked against official sources on
On this page
Bangladeshi students do not apply in Dhaka for a Polish study visa. The Embassy of Poland in New Delhi accepts applications from citizens or residents of Bangladesh, and it decides them 1. The gov.pl page names Visa Application Centres (VAC) run for the embassy by VFS Global, and it does not name one in Dhaka 1.
The NAWA letter
Since 1 July 2025, some applicants must get a "written information" document from NAWA, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, and submit it with the visa application 2. It applies if your secondary-school diploma was not issued in an EU, OECD or EFTA-EEA state, or if you do not hold a recognised IB diploma or equivalent 2. Ask your university early whether your diploma needs it.
How to apply
The visa is a D-type national visa for study 1. The steps on the gov.pl page are:
- Register through e-Konsulat. Slots are given in order of registration 1.
- New Delhi study slots run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00 1.
- Fill in the extra VFS Global study form before you visit the VAC 1.
- Apply no earlier than 6 months before travel and generally no later than 15 calendar days before it 1.
- Submit in person. The mission does not accept applications by fax, post or email 1.
- Have travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 for the whole stay, or qualifying health insurance 1.
The page also publishes a document checklist as a PDF dated 14.05.26, and it does not set a fee itself. It points to the consular fee table and the VFS website 1. The VFS helpline is +91 22 67866078, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00 1.
How long it takes
The embassy decides within 15 days of submission. In justified cases this can run to 30 days 1. If the Head of the Office for Foreigners is consulted, the decision comes 5 days after that body replies 1. This is the figure for Polish missions in India, and the page shows no as-of date 1.
Schengen numbers for New Delhi
These figures are for short-stay Schengen (type C) visas at the New Delhi consulate, all purposes and all nationalities, not Bangladeshi students. In 2024 it received 5,236 applications, issued 4,142 and did not issue 1,089 3. That is about 21 percent not issued (1,089 of 5,236) 3. They do not tell you the outcome for a study visa.
Short-stay applications and Sweden
Sweden's embassy in Dhaka used to take Poland's short-stay applications. The last day to apply that way was 15 April 2026, and people whose main destination is Poland must now apply through Polish authorities 4. The gov.pl page does not say whether a VAC has opened in Dhaka since 1.
Poland's page describes no official way to track a study visa application 1. When you have your e-Konsulat registration and VFS form reference ready, use the status check above.
