Slovenia type D visa from Bangladesh: New Delhi embassy, fees and tracking
Last checked against official sources on
For a long stay in Slovenia, students need a type D visa, and the Slovenian embassy in New Delhi says the application must be submitted in person 1. The Slovenian government page for Bangladesh says Bangladeshi citizens need a visa, including an airport transit visa, but for long-stay visas it only says to contact the competent Slovenian mission and does not name one 2. The New Delhi page does not name Bangladesh either, so confirm with the embassy that it accepts Bangladeshi applicants 1.
The type D visa
A type D visa is an entry and residence permit of at least 90 days and at most one year, and it cannot be extended 1. The application fee is EUR 77 1. The basic documents are a completed form, a valid passport, a 45x35 mm ICAO photo and travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 1. The documents specific to study are in a separate list on the embassy page, which this page does not reproduce 1.
To book an appointment, email consular.newdelhi@gov.si with your name, date of birth, passport number and the service you need 1. Fees can be paid by UPI (QR code) or bank transaction, in EUR or INR. The embassy takes no cash 1. The embassy publishes no processing time for type D.
Short-stay visas are different
For short-stay (Schengen type C) visas, the New Delhi page lists the Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka for Bangladesh. The type C fee is EUR 90 1.
For scale: in 2024 the Slovenian consulate in New Delhi recorded 2,787 short-stay Schengen visa applications, 1,367 issued and 1,413 not issued. These are type C visas for all purposes and all nationalities, not student visas and not Bangladesh-specific 3. The not-issued share is 1,413 of 2,787, about 51 percent 3.
Tracking your application
The embassy states: "No information on ongoing visa process will be provided." It has no online tracker, and residence permit status can only be checked with the competent Administrative unit in Slovenia 1.
If you handed your application to a VFS centre, the VFS Global tracking page asks for the reference number printed on your VFS receipt, your date of birth in the format DD/MM/YYYY, and the security image 4. The embassy decides type D visas 1, so a message such as "ready for collection" is not an approval. If the tracker says "The verification words are incorrect.", retype the security image 4. If it says "Invalid Inputs", check the number exactly as printed on your receipt 4.
Have your VFS receipt ready for the status check above.
